78/52: Hitchcock’s Shower Scene
That iconic shower scene…. Probably the best-known movie sequence in modern cinema. Cinephiles and casual film viewers will revel in the details of this three-minute sequence from Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho (1960) that crafted together 78 camera set-ups and 52 cuts. Guillermo del Toro, Danny Elfman, Peter Bogdanovich, Jamie Lee Curtis (and her body double Playboy Bunny Marli Renfro) are among the interviewees weighing in on the film and the scene. This documentary celebrates the power and mastery of an almost 60-year-old movie that still feels cutting-edge.
A young woman and her father adapt to terrifying changes they never expected. GOOD MORNING was created via the inaugural Warner Brothers Emerging Film Directors Workshop, in which only five filmmakers were chosen from over 5,000 applicants worldwide.
If you haven’t had enough, watch the original Alfred Hitchcock classic, “Psycho” at the outdoor pavilion at 9 pm (admission is free).
